WP.6 Testing

Related assupmtions and risks: The standards developed and the activities of trained personals have to be put to a test, and this testing has to empirically relevant. Thus the number of examples should no be too small, but also no overstressed. Furthermore, it has to fit the needs of the Tunisian partners for a successful start of the new system.
Description of work package: In cooperation with the center for QA and certification at the University de Gabès and the respective QA and certification points in the other Tunisian partner universities eight courses in applied languages (English as lingua franca, French as the relevant foreign language in Tunisia; German and Italian as respective partner languages) and in 16 engineering courses will be certified. All the courses are chosen according to the suggestions of the Tunisian partners.
The preparation will be done in a workshop in Dresden; it implies:
- a detailed description of the courses to by certified, including the structural framework of the curricula, including infrastructural and administrative premises
- the application of the adjustment of the QA measures in a verifiable manner
- the development of the certification standards for each subject.
The certification of the 16 engineering courses and the 10 languages will be done at the respective universities in Tunisia. They will be done by one European expert from the consortium, one expert from the Tunisian consortium (not from the university being certificated) assisted by an administrative expert from the respective university.
Regarding languages, the competences within the consortium are more than sufficient; TUD, TUL and Salerno do have all the relevant institutions and specialists.
In engineering this is different. Even though the partners have a broad spectrum of fields and curricula, they do not cover all the specializations of the South Tunisian universities. Thus, we have to combine the competence of the consortium with a
supplementary expert with specialized expertise monitoring the certification for one week.

6.1 Workshop in Dresden

  • application of the adjustment of the QA measures in a verifiable manner
  • development of the certification standards for each subject

6.2 Certification of 16 engineering courses

  • The certification will be done by an evaluation committee consisting of one European expert from the consortium, one expert from the Tunisian consortium assisted by an administrative expert from the respective university – acting as a local advisor – evaluating the respective course for two weeks
  • the committee will be supported by a supplementary expert with specialized expertise monitoring the certification for one week
  • for each certification a detailed report will be edited and published in Arab, French and English

6.3 Certification of 10 language courses

  • The certification will be done by an evaluation committee consisting of one European expert from the consortium, one expert from the Tunisian consortium assisted by an administrative expert from the respective university – acting as a local advisor – evaluating the respective course for two weeks
  • for each certification a detailed report will be edited and published in Arab, French and English.
